DR. MITHU ALUR

Dr. Mithu Alur was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Excellence and Achievements Award Ceremony by the Miranda House Alumnae Association on the 19th of January 2018 at Miranda House Delhi

Dr. Mithu Alur was awarded the Smt. Nandini P. Devatia Rural Rehabilitation Institutional Award for the year 2017 from Rural Development and Management Institute Ahmedabad for our rural centre  Mithu Alur foundation .

Awarded as a Woman of Substance for her pioneering contribution in the field of disability on the occasion of the International Women’s Day by Mrs. Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairman, State Bank of India (SBI).

Awarded the Qimpro Platinum Standard for Education, the highest award by Qimpro.

Appointed Chairperson, Task Force on PWD. 

Again nominated to the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) which is the highest body in the country within the Ministry of Education or Human Resource Development (HRD).

Invited to be a Member of the Working Committee, National Advisory Council (NAC), New Delhi.

Invited to be a Member of the Working Committee for Implementation of Right to Education (RTE).

Awarded CFBP(Council for Fair Business Practices) – Jamnalal Bajaj Uchit Vyavahar Puruskar 2010.

Awarded the Woman of the Year – CNN IBN Super Idol Award.

Awarded the Woman of the Year Award for Outstanding Woman Citizen of Mumbai by the ‘Indian Merchants Chambers’.

Invited to be on the Round Table on School Education and Disadvantages Section Women, PWD and SC/ST, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi.

Awarded the EMPI(Enterprise Master Patient Index) – Indian Express Indian Innovation Award.

Invited to the Expert Committee of RCI on EDUSAT.

Nominated Member of the Advisory Board (CSR) of the Coca Cola Foundation, New Delhi.

Invited to be on the National Executive Committee, National Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan

Also nominated to the Working Groups of the Planning Commission of India for the 11th Plan.

Presented the Paul Harris Fellow Award by Rotary International, United States.

Nominated to the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) which is the highest body in the country within the Ministry of Education or Human Resource Development (HRD). 

The First Recipient of an International Award entitled, ‘The Marsha Forrest Rose Quartz Warrior Award’ which was specially instituted and given for her Leadership and Contribution to Inclusive Education from Canada’s Marsha Forrest Centre.

President of India Shri Abdul Kalam visited the organisation.

Completed her Ph.D. from the Institute of Education, University of London in 1998. Entitled “Invisible Children – A Study of Policy Exclusion”, her thesis examined the evolution of social and educational policy for disabled children in India with specific reference to the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).

Was invited by the London School of Economics to be a Visiting Academic.

The President of India awarded Dr. Alur the Padmashri (equivalent to an OBE) for her then 17 years of work.

The Spastics Society of India received the National Award for the Best Voluntary Agency from the Government of India in 1987.

Dr Batra’s Positive Health Awards presented by Bajaj Discover – 2012 India’s first health honours, instituted in 2006, commend people who, with grit and determination, have fought and recovered from severe and debilitating diseases and disabilities to lead normal lives again. These ‘medical marvels’ have beaten the odds and have also given back something commendable to the society in their own way.
